Beim Drehbuchschreiben gibt es eine Regel die heißt „Start with a bang“. Sowas ähnliches wollte ich hier auch versuchen. Aber dann bin ich über ein Hindernis nach dem anderen gestolpert. Einerseits war die Zeit zu kurz um das Konzept innerhalb einer Woche zu Ende zu denken und dann in Ruhe zu sehen welche Form (Collage? Zeichnung? Farbe? Schwarz-Weiß?) dafür die richtige ist. Andererseits stand mir zum ersten Mal wirklich im Weg dass ich bestimmte Fähigkeiten nicht gut genug beherrsche um das umzusetzen was mir vorschwebt (Menschen und Gesichter zeichnen). Beides bedeutet Druck und hat mich aus dem Gleichgewicht gebracht. Deswegen lege ich das Projekt „Illustration der Kleinen Meerjungfrau“ vorerst zur Seite und widme mich nächste Woche anderen Dingen. Trotzdem bin ich froh dass es so unrund gelaufen ist, weil ich einiges mitnehmen kann: Ich habe Lust mir gewisse Grundtechniken anzueignen (Hallo, Wochenendzeichenkurse an der Volkshochschule!). Und ich nehme mir vorerst überschaubarere Projekte vor.
There is a rule in screenwriting that says „Start with a bang“. I wanted to try something like this. But then I encountered one obstacle after the other. One week was too short to think about a whole concept from the beginning to the end and to decide which technique I would use (Collages? Drawings? Black and white? Colors?). On the other hand I experienced for the first time a real lack of skills. I had the feeling that I could not execute any of the visions I had for the project (drawing faces and humans). This resulted in too much pressure. So I will put „The Little Mermaid, Illustrated“ aside for a while and turn to other projects. But I am actually quite happy about the process because I learned a few things: I really want to practice some skills (Hello, weekend drawing classes at the community center!) and I will do some smaller projects first.
