Be Creative – Week #2: Frustration & Inspiration

(English version: Scroll down below the image)

Ich stecke fest. Und das frustriert mich. Sehr sogar.

I feel stuck. And that is very frustrating. Also my regular work is very time consuming at the moment (including some night shifts). And I simply lack a proper plan for making the weekly Be Creative projects work in my spare time. Also I have the feeling that I am failing (again) in terms of skills and in this case materials: I simply cannot handle polymere clay the way I want to.

But giving up is not an option, so I will try the following: I want to split the weekly projects into daily (and therefore hopefully more manageable) steps. So it might feel like an daily project again and I will find a better rhythm. Let’s wait and see.

In the meantime I ordered a bit of inspiration from Amazon.uk: „Big Rabbit’s Bad Mood“ is a fantastic picture book that totally fits my current grumpy mood – Big Rabbit has a companion, a fat, grey, hairy guy named „Bad Mood“ that follows him everywhere he goes (Writer: Romana Badescu, Illustrations: Delphine Durand). „The Bird King and other sketches“ is a wonderful book by Shaun Tan, with lots of pictures from his sketch books and texts about the way he works. There are even more sketch books from other artists, illustrators, comic-strip artists in Danny Gregory’s book „An illustrated life“, combined with texts from the artists about their way of work. An then there is „Drawing for mixed media artists“ by Carla Sonheim, with lots of exercises. Maybe I should try a few of those, to fight my frustration (which is really massive).
